- All vehicles from KD Rent-a-Car include basic insurance (CDW) in the rental fee.
- If damage occurs to our vehicle or the other party’s property due to the driver’s negligence, the driver must bear a deductible of $1,000 (varies by vehicle) + vehicle downtime fees + police report fees.
- In the event of an accident, the above fees must be paid first. A police report (available one week after the incident date) will determine liability. If the other party is found at fault, we will claim damages from the other driver or their insurance company. Once compensation is received from the other party or their insurer, the fees you paid will be refunded. However, if the other driver is uninsured or unable to compensate, our insurance company will handle the claim, and no refund will be issued for the paid fees.
- This deductible can be covered by purchasing additional zero-deductible insurance (ZDW), which costs $10–$25 per day (varies by vehicle).
★ Accidents not covered by CDW (basic insurance) or ZDW (full waiver insurance)
- Unreported accidents (a police case number is mandatory)
- Accidents caused by running red lights, crossing the center line, or illegal overtaking
- Single-vehicle accidents; damage to/loss of keys (remotes), wheels, tires, glass, or engine/transmission (including water damage or fuel contamination)
- Towing, rescue, travel, or fine expenses; damage from natural disasters
- Damage or accidents occurring on unpaved roads
- Vehicle theft
- Single-vehicle accidents
★ Insurance claims are limited to one incident during the rental period.
- In case of an accident or damage, you must immediately report it to 911 at the scene to obtain a case number, which is required for insurance processing. (A $30 administrative document fee is the renter’s responsibility.) Failure to bring the damaged vehicle to us as-is will result in denial of insurance coverage, and you will be liable for the full repair costs.
- ZDW insurance is not available for 1-day rentals.
Rental car drivers must be at least 25 years old with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
A valid Korean driver’s license is accepted for insurance coverage.
International licenses, temporary licenses, and non-physical copies (e.g., photos stored on a phone) are not recognized.
The rental car must be returned in the same condition as when received. A cleaning fee of $200 will be charged if excessive contamination—such as cigarette odors from smoking, sand ingress, or saltwater stains (from boarding with wet clothes)—requires detailed cleaning.
Up to 2 additional drivers can be added free of charge with insurance coverage. When adding a driver, their details must be provided to ensure insurance benefits apply in case of an accident.
Failure to present a driver’s license to the police at the time of an accident will be treated as unlicensed driving. Insurance coverage is also denied for accidents involving drunk driving or intentional damage.
If rental car keys are lost or damaged, the renter is liable for costs: $350+ for standard keys and $500+ for electronic keys. Additionally, fees apply if staff assistance is requested due to keys being locked inside the vehicle or difficulty replacing a flat tire ( $50 for Tumon area, $100 for northern/southern regions).
All fines, penalties, and towing fees incurred during the rental period are the renter’s responsibility (a $30 processing fee applies for payment of fines and penalties).
